About
We partner with nonprofit organizations throughout Georgia to improve health outcomes and strengthen communities through strategic grant funding and meaningful connections.
Our Story
The Georgia Health Foundation was established in 1985 through the conversion of the Georgia Medical Plan, the state's first nonprofit health maintenance organization, into an independent foundation.
For nearly four decades, we've awarded over $14 million in grants to health organizations across Georgia, maintaining our commitment to responsive grantmaking that trusts community organizations to know their health needs best.
The Foundation is affiliated with Philanthropy Southeast, Georgia Grantmakers Alliance, and the Atlanta Foundations Forum, connecting us to broader philanthropic networks while maintaining our distinctive approach.

Our Approach
We believe that local organizations know their communities best. As responsive grantmakers, we trust nonprofits to identify health challenges and develop effective solutions that enable people to thrive.
Our approach values both direct service and policy advocacy that can drive systemic improvements in health outcomes. We prioritize funding where our grants can make a significant difference, particularly in rural and underserved communities across Georgia.
We foster collaboration through our annual awards luncheon and ongoing connections between grantees, creating a diverse network of health advocates working collectively to strengthen Georgia's communities.
